The Times-Picayune, a locally-owned, Pulitzer Prize-winning news organization dedicated to serving the New Orleans area, is seeking a reporter for its criminal justice team to focus on the city’s courts.

Candidates should be relentless about covering all aspects of our legal system, from courtroom trials to the politics of judicial elections and the work of our District Attorney. We’re seeking a reporter who can break news and developing sources to produce exclusives. We prefer candidates with some experience using public records, online tools, social media and data, and who are excited to pitch in on broader public safety coverage.

 

Applicants should be skilled online and adept at juggling deadline stories with longer-term projects. They should also enjoy working in a collaborative newsroom environment where we’re always seeking new ways to engage readers while upholding our standards of fairness and accuracy.

 

The Times-Picayune is a 7-day, home-delivered newspaper with a dedicated staff of reporters and editors, including many who have covered the New Orleans area for years. We are passionate about producing thoughtful journalism both in print and on our website NOLA.com, and have been aggressive about growing the organization to reach more subscribers.
