Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on a diverse range of vehicles and heavy equipment, including diesel engines, transmissions, suspensions, brakes, hydraulics, electrical systems, and HVAC systems.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, alignment checks, and fluid replacements to maximize vehicle lifespan and performance.
- Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues accurately.
- Operate heavy equipment such forklifts, and tractor-trailers safely and efficiently during repairs or testing procedures.
- Fabricate parts or components as needed using welding and fabrication tools to ensure proper fitment and function.
- Maintain detailed service records for all repairs performed; adhere to safety protocols during all maintenance activities.
- Assist in the assembly, disassembly, and overhaul of machinery or vehicle components requiring specialized mechanical knowledge or heavy lifting.
Skills
- Prefer certified mechanics but willing to train
- Proven dealership experience or extensive mechanic experience with automotive repair shops specializing in trucks or heavy equipment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge across various systems including transmissions, hydraulics, suspension, brakes (including air brake systems), electrical systems, and HVAC.
- Skilled in automotive diagnostics using modern scan tools; capable of troubleshooting complex vehicle system issues efficiently.
- Proficient with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques necessary for equipment repair or customization.
- Experience operating heavy machinery such as forklifts, and other industrial equipment safely under industry standards.
- Knowledge of industrial equipment maintenance; ability to perform heavy lifting safely is essential.
