Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Preschool Teacher role based in the New York City Metropolitan Area. The Preschool Teacher will design and implement age-appropriate learning activities that support children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. Daily responsibilities include preparing lesson plans, delivering engaging classroom instruction, supervising children to ensure safety, and maintaining a clean, organized learning environment. The role involves observing and documenting children’s progress, communicating regularly with families and colleagues, and collaborating with team members to align classroom practices with the YMCA’s mission and standards. The Preschool Teacher will also participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events as needed.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Early Childhood Education with experience working with preschool or Kindergarten-age children.
- Proficiency in Lesson Planning and Curriculum Development to create structured, developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
- Effective Communication skills for interacting with children, families, and colleagues in a clear, respectful, and supportive manner.
- Ability to create an inclusive, nurturing classroom environment that supports diverse learning styles and backgrounds.
- Knowledge of child development, classroom management best practices, and positive behavior guidance techniques.
- Relevant education such as an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (or equivalent experience, as permitted by local regulations).
