About the Position
The firm specializes in working with senior managers and executives of publicly traded companies who receive equity (RSUs, PSUs, ISOs, NSOs) as part of their total compensation. A qualified financial advisor candidate will have some familiarity with these and other forms of executive compensation.
In addition to traditional financial planning software, customer relationship management (CRM) software and tax preparation tools, the firm uses several custom models and Excel tables, which will require a level of comfort with technology. They will also need to prefer a collaborative working environment and appreciate a high level of autonomy and decision-making. Such a candidate will strive to provide outstanding service and support to the firm’s clients on an ongoing basis.
The ideal candidate will have 5 or more years of experience in a client-facing role, performing financial analysis, relationship management, and investment-related duties within the financial services industry. They will also need to possess a clean record with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), an active Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation, and meet the Certified Financial Planner Board’s requirements to use its marks without restriction.
This is a salaried position and does not have any business development requirements. The role is intended to be performed on a hybrid basis (following a 90-day probationary period), which consists of two (2) days’ work from home/remote, and three (3) days from our office in the Union Market area of Washington, D.C.

Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients’ financial planning-related inquiries (via phone or email), ensuring clients understand their options and the implications of any recommended planning strategies.
- Prepare for and conduct semi-annual review meetings with clients to stay up to date on any big career or lifestyle changes that might impact their financial plan.
- Review and interpret company benefits, W-2s, tax returns, investment account statements, insurance policies, mortgage statements, and other financial documentation.
- Meet and communicate with prospective clients during the onboarding process and help prepare their initial financial plans.
- Ensure all documentation is properly stored, accessible, and compliant with internal and regulatory recordkeeping standards.
- Work with our tax advisor to identify tax-saving opportunities for clients, including Roth conversions, tax-loss harvesting, charitable strategies, and entity structuring.
- Place trades as both part of an initial dollar cost averaging plan, as well as scheduled quarterly rebalancing.
- Communicate with the firm’s insurance and mortgage brokers to request quotes and stay on top of the application process. Communicate with clients to provide them with updates and request any additional information needed to complete an application.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics or related discipline
- 5 years of experience in the financial services industry
- Active and valid CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER (CFP®) designation
- Foundational knowledge of equity compensation and other executive benefits
- Strong technical writing and technical communication skills
- Strong organizational and project management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- 7 years of experience in the financial services industry
- Experience in entering critical data required to prepare financial plans
- Proficiency with Asset Map, Advyzon, Wealthbox, Pontera, Holistiplan, and other similar financial planning software
- Experience using the Schwab Advisor Center to place trades and manage client investment accounts.
