Position Description for
Volunteer Coordinator
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direct supervision of the Program Director, is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the volunteer workforce, including recruiting, training and supervising the community volunteers; identifying, assessing and assigning pregnant teens/women to their volunteers; building relationships with community providers and organizations, data collection, and report preparation. This position also provides support to other CAHSC programs.
- Recruits and trains volunteer “Sister Friends”
- Recruits Little Sisters and matches them to a Sister Friend.
- Supervises, motivates and supports volunteers who are responsible for providing emotional and practical support to expectant moms and new mothers on a one-on-one basis. Supervision will include providing information to program volunteers on community services and resources to share with their Little Sisters.
- Conducts initial home visit to assess needs of expectant mothers, and additional home visits as needed including postpartum visit.
- Maintains participant records in accordance with agency and funding source requirements.
- Organizes and oversees baby showers, monthly volunteer meetings and other related group events.
- Collects and maintains Sister Friends program data in order to evaluate program outcomes.
- Plans and coordinates quarterly Sister Friends Leadership Circle meetings.
- Recruits and trains volunteers to support Coalition events and activities.
- Plans, coordinates, and facilitates at a minimum quarterly volunteer orientations.
- Maintains an up to date and centralized list of activities, events, and program needs requiring volunteer assistance and support.
- Maintains volunteer information and participation records.
- Acts as a liaison with community organizations, health and social service agencies and other appropriate entities.
- Assist in other community events.
- Develop print material and presentations to be shared with the community.
- Stays current with literature relevant to maternal and child health, such as but not limited to factors that affect health, infant mortality, prematurity, low birth weight, maternal infections, maternal stress, teen births, smoking cessation during pregnancy, depression, optimal birth spacing, father inclusion, SUIDS, substance use and exposure, trauma informed care, protective factors, Life Course Perspective, and strategies for evidence-based interventions.
- Assists with conducting quality assurance activities.
- Complete all job duties and case management in the required timeframes.
- Participate in Service Delivery Plan initiatives related to women’s and family’s health and wellbeing
- Be available for evening and weekend activities as needed to accommodate families’ schedules
- Participate in conference calls, community meetings, and community events.
- Participate in community outreach and training activities.
- Attend trainings as required.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, public health, or related behavioral health field required. Experience in working with families with young children is strongly recommended. Experience working with diverse communities, organizations, and agencies preferred. Strong communication, public speaking, and writing skills are required. Must have driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Compensation: $47,500
