The Food Resources department is integral to the CAFB’s mission through its work of acquiring food for communities in need throughout the Capital Region. As a member of this dynamic team, the Retail Food Donations Field Coordinator will contribute to our retail food recovery program, Partner Direct. The Partner Direct program at CAFB facilitates donation relationships between our network of partner agencies and our roster of retail and food industry donors. This position will spend most of the working time in the field conducting store visits to improve these partnerships and foster program growth. This position will require a high attention to detail, creating and disseminating reports for internal and external audiences, and collaborating with several key stakeholders to meet annual goals.

Description
The Food Resources department is integral to the CAFB’s mission through its work of acquiring food for communities in need throughout the Capital Region. As a member of this dynamic team, the Retail Food Donations Field Coordinator will contribute to our retail food recovery program, Partner Direct. The Partner Direct program at CAFB facilitates donation relationships between our network of partner agencies and our roster of retail and food industry donors. Essential Functions
Program Coordination
- Plan for and conduct at least eight to ten site visits per week to establish new partnerships, strengthen existing relationships, and resolve challenges
- Provide onsite training for retail employees to increase donations and limit operational challenges
- Initiate, support, adjust, and troubleshot individual partnerships between agencies and donors to ensure consistent food donations
- Use the Meal Connect platform to track program data and use it in real-time at store visits
- Follow and enforce standard operating procedures to ensure program consistency across retail stores
- Support the expansion of the Partner Direct program by identifying opportunities to increase donor participation
- Work with Food Resources Manager and Partner Direct Team to analyze program data, identify opportunities to improve and expand the program, and implement strategic opportunities
- Maintain and distribute accurate and timely reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Maintain accurate records of store visits and document in CAFB system
- Work collaboratively with other divisions of the Food Resources team and other CAFB departments
- Participate in weekly team meetings and any training activities as needed
Requirements:
- At least 1-2 years’ experience
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills; comfort with enforcing policies and navigating difficult conversations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong Problem-solving skills
- Extremely organized and meticulous with details
- Excellent project management skills, strong follow-through, and ability to prioritize
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Passion for food access and food rescue/waste prevention
- Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
- Physical activities involve driving to sites and walking around retail grocery stores. 4 days in the field, driving across DMV metro area. Occasionally lift office supplies up to 20 pounds.
- Majority in the field. Must be willing to travel to stores across DMV with either person vehicle or CAFB vehicle. Must respond to infrequent weekend and evening technical emergencies. Mon to Fri, 8:30 - 5:00 pm; extended when necessary.
- Reports to Senior Manager, Food Resourcing

Compensation
- $24.08 to $29.43/hour
- Regular site visits, 3 days in the field/ 1 day in the office, required with comfortability navigating within the DC metro area
- Regular work hours are Monday through Friday from 9am to 5:00pm; with weekends or extended hours for special events
