Energy Auditor

Capital Area Community Services, Inc. is hiring an Energy Auditor for the Weatherization Program to oversee the completion of all weatherization work according to the standards established by the Department of Energy (DOE) and Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (MDHHS).

They also assist with the implementation of various energy conservation programs through the energy audit of residential properties. Records the pertinent data in written and computerized formats and generates work order specifications for the energy conservation measures that are to be installed by contractors. Ensure proper follow through and inspections in the field, verify quality installations, and client satisfaction.

Essential Functions

Conduct the Energy Audit at the client's home according to detailed format which includes:

Performing various tests: blower door, pressure, heating system efficiency etc.

Assessing and documenting the condition of the site.

Educating the client whenever possible to obtain energy savings.

Determining areas of possible health and safety dangers.

Determining some energy savings products such as LED light bulbs.

Metering appliances for possible replacement.

Performing energy savings functions such as water temperature turn down.

Using company provided tools and equipment such as a blower door or pressure pan to aid in testing.

Communicating with client and scheduling energy audit appointment.

Documenting information collected at the energy audit in required format.

Developing a work order of specifications for the contractor(s) selected to complete work.

Reviewing the billing received from the contractor and verifying the bid prices and the actual work performed are of quality and accuracy

Inspecting the work to check for conformity with the work order, the bill and the accepted weatherization guidelines.

Verifying that the client's folder has all the proper paperwork required by the funding sources and agency requirements.

Must be skilled in multitasking and the ability to maintain a dynamic work in progress.

Team oriented, have the ability to adjust to changing procedures.

Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to travel when needed.

Will maintain professional boundaries with all current, past, and prospective clients, and maintain the confidentiality of clients and staff, in accordance with CACS policies and procedures.

Abide by all CACS Safety policies and procedures.

Present professional and positive image as a representative of CACS.

Perform other duties as required to assure the success of the Weatherization program.

Recommended Employment Qualifications

Education

The job requires knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired through specialized training such as that acquired in approximately one year of technical, vocational or trade school with course work in construction methods and terminology, building codes, and a firm understanding of the DOE rules including Standard Work Specifications and MDHHS CSPMs.

Must have or obtain BPI EA/QCI certification from an IREC accredited training provider within 6 months.

Skills/Experience

Enthusiasm to learn through on-the-job training, strong customer service and communication skills, multitasker, Trade skills, Computer skills (Microsoft office, Work order management software), Basic math and problem solving skills,
