Job Description
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Enrolled Agent (EA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to lead our new in-house tax function. This role is designed for someone who thrives on collaboration, has a deep understanding of tax law, and is passionate about delivering excellent service in alignment with clients’ broader financial goals.
You’ll work closely with our financial advisors and planners to provide personalized tax planning and preparation services. As the first EA or CPA at Capita, you will also have the opportunity to help shape the firm’s tax processes and strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and file individual and business federal and state tax returns
- Provide strategic tax planning throughout the year in coordination with advisors
- Analyze tax documents and proactively identify planning opportunities
- Respond to IRS and state notices on behalf of clients
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws and best practices
- Help build and document internal tax preparation and review processes
- Serve as the internal resource for tax-related questions and client communication
- Partner with other departments (operations, compliance, advisors) to ensure tax services align with client needs and firm goals
Experience Desired
- Active Enrolled Agent (EA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential
- 2 years of experience in tax preparation and planning
- Familiarity with tax software (e.g., Drake, UltraTax, or similar)
- Experience with individual and business filings
- Strong understanding of financial planning and its connection to tax strategy
- Prior work in a wealth management, advisory, or accounting firm is a strong plus
