The Senior PCBA Electrical Board Characterization Engineer leads electrical characterization, validation, and debug of complex PCBAs incorporating high speed interfaces such as PCIe and DDR memory.
This role owns end-to-end end electrical sign off for boards, and acts as a technical authority for signal integrity, power integrity, and compliance readiness, working closely with design, layout, SI/PI, firmware, and system teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Own electrical characterization strategy and execution for complex, multi-layer PCBAs with high-speed interfaces like PCIe, DDR
Drive root cause analysis of high-speed failures, recommending design or layout corrective actionsLead PDN and power integrity characterization
Evaluate power consumption and thermal interaction under functional and stress conditions
Lead board bring up for first silicon and early prototype boards
Debug complex electrical issues using advanced lab equipment
Partner with firmware and system teams to resolve cross domain issues impacting electrical performance
Lead pre compliance EMI/EMC electrical investigations, identifying root causes and mitigation strategies
Support regulatory and electrical compliance readiness, ensuring designs meet margin and robustness targets
Required Skills & Experience:
Deep hands-on experience in PCBA electrical characterization and validation
Proven expertise in PCIe and DDR high speed interface validation
Strong foundation in signal integrity and power integrity analysis
Advanced debug skills using high speed lab instrumentation
Ability to review and interpret schematics and PCB layouts using tools such as OrCAD, Allegro, Altium, Valor
Experience defining test methodologies, automation approaches, and repeatable validation flows
Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, Electronics, or related field
Typically, 8-12 years of experience in PCBA validation, characterization, or high-speed hardware engineering
Optional skills:
Lab environment experience and working with cross-functional teams
The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is $46.23/hour - $72.23/hour. Our benefits include medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis.
