Job Title: Optical Transport Engineer
Location: Philadelphia, PA/New Jersey or Denver, CO USA (100% Onsite)
About the Role:
- We are seeking highly skilled and motivated Senior Optical Transport Engineers to join our core transport team.
- This is a critical role focused on executing significant in-house network upgrades to drive substantial cost savings and enhance our infrastructure capabilities.
- The ideal candidate will possess deep, hands-on expertise in optical transport equipment and be ready to immediately contribute to a major project involving Nokia Cienna and 6500 platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Network Upgrade Execution: Take primary responsibility for the configuration, deployment, and upgrade of core optical transport equipment, specifically utilizing Nokia Cienna (6500 series).
- Technical Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert for optical transport technologies, including DWDM/OTN equipment and configuration best practices.
- Troubleshooting & Support: Provide advanced troubleshooting and support for the core transport network during and after equipment upgrades.
- In-House Management: Act as a key resource in managing these large-scale upgrades internally, aligning with the strategic goal of reducing reliance on external vendor services.
- Collaboration: Work closely with existing IP and MPLS engineering teams, as well as finance and project management stakeholders, to ensure smooth project execution.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Deep Optical Transport Experience: Extensive, verifiable experience in designing, configuring, and managing core optical transport networks.
- Nokia Equipment Expertise: Mandatory hands-on experience with Nokia 6500 series (including Cienna) optical transport equipment.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of optical network principles, including fiber types, transmission standards, and test methodologies.
- Onsite Availability: Must be willing to work on-site at one of the following key locations: Philadelphia, New Jersey, or Denver.
- Problem-Solving: Proven ability to rapidly diagnose and resolve complex network issues in a live production environment.
- Independent Work: Ability to manage upgrade tasks and responsibilities with minimal supervision.
Salary : $110,000 - $120,000
