Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division in Port Hueneme, CA, for a Computer Systems Security Specialist I.
The role includes at least 5 years of experience in a) Installing and configuring and upgrading security software. b) Securing networks through firewalls, Intrusion Prevention System (IPS)/Intrusion Detection, password protection, Access Control Lists (ACLs), V-LAN, and industry standard network hardening techniques; and c) Implement secure framework and risk management methodologies using patch management, STIG implementation, information assurance vulnerability alerts/bulletins.
At least 3 years of experience in: d) Acting on privacy breaches and malware threats; e) Serving as a security expert and conduct training; and f) Draft policies and guidelines.
At least 1 year of experience in: g) System administration or security roles; h) Networking and System Administration (e.g. TCP/IP, Firewalls); and i) Firewall and endpoint security systems maintenance and functionality.
Qualifications
- TOP SECRET SECURITY CLEARANCE WITH SCI ELIGIBILITY REQUIRED.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college/university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline; and: For CSWF Designated Positions - Professional Certifications: IAT II which requires a Security or equivalent and Continuous Education (CE).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
- If a proposed individual does not meet both the desired education and experience qualifications, nine years professional technical activities related to in the Information Technology would be considered equivalent. Five of these nine years should demonstrate experience in “a” through “c” above, three of these nine years should demonstrate experience in “d” and “f”, and one of these nine years should demonstrate experience in “g” through “i”.

- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Experience working in the technology or defense sector is an advantage.
