RN / LPN – Primary Mental Health Residential Treatment

Full-Time / Per Diem | 12-Hour Shifts

Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and clinically skilled RN or LPN to join our day shift nursing team at Capella Recovery, a primary mental health residential treatment facility located in Alpharetta, Georgia. This role supports clients experiencing a variety of mental health conditions within a structured residential treatment environment.
The day shift nurse plays a critical role in ensuring client safety, medication administration, behavioral monitoring, and coordination of care throughout the day. The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, clinically attentive, and committed to providing trauma-informed, patient-centered care to individuals receiving treatment for mental health conditions.
Key ResponsibilitiesClient Care & Assessment
Conduct nursing assessments upon admission and perform ongoing shift evaluations
Monitor mental status, mood, affect, behavioral presentation, and overall functioning
Assess suicide risk and monitor changes in psychiatric stability
Monitor vital signs and report clinical abnormalities promptly
Provide supportive, trauma-informed care and therapeutic presence throughout the day
Observe for medication effectiveness, behavioral changes, and safety concerns
Medication Administration & Management
Safely prepare, administer, and document medications following the Five Rights of Medication Administration
Monitor for adverse reactions or side effects related to psychiatric medications
Maintain accurate Medication Administration Record (MAR) documentation
Complete medication counts and report discrepancies immediately
Communicate medication concerns or PRN effectiveness to providers
Safety Monitoring
Perform regular rounds and safety checks throughout the facility
Support suicide precautions, behavioral observation levels, or 1:1 monitoring when assigned
Assist with behavioral de-escalation using approved facility techniques
Respond promptly to psychiatric or medical emergencies
Maintain infection control and safety standards
Documentation & Compliance
Document assessments, interventions, and observations in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) accurately and in a timely manner
Complete incident reports and shift summaries as required
Maintain compliance with Georgia state regulations, Joint Commission/CARF standards (if applicable), and facility policies
Maintain strict HIPAA confidentiality standards
Interdisciplinary Collaboration
Communicate effectively with psychiatrists, therapists, behavioral health technicians (BHTs), and leadership
Provide clinical updates and handoff reports between shifts
Participate in treatment planning discussions as needed
Educate clients on medications, symptom management, and treatment expectations
Additional Responsibilities
Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges when needed
Support staff training or mentorship when requested
Maintain required competencies and licensure
Promote a safe, supportive therapeutic milieu within the residential setting
Qualifications Required
Active, unrestricted RN or LPN license in the State of Georgia
Current CPR/BLS certification
Ability to pass background check and drug screening
Strong clinical judgment and crisis management skills
Empathetic, professional, and non-judgmental approach to individuals receiving mental health treatment
Preferred Experience
Residential mental health treatment
Behavioral health or psychiatric nursing
Experience with suicide risk monitoring and crisis intervention
Experience working in a therapeutic residential treatment environment
Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR)
Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
