What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Part-Time/Full Time Captain position at Cape Water Tours?
We’re looking for an experienced Captain to join our family owned boat tours company in Lewes, Delaware to operate and command a 54’ inspected passenger vessel. This role centers on confident vessel handling, strong maritime leadership, and the ability to make sound decisions in both routine and high‑pressure situations.
- Captain all vessel operations with a focus on safety, precision, and guest experience
- Lead and direct crew with clear communication and strong onboard presence
- Manage and troubleshoot mechanical and rigging systems as needed
- Ensure full compliance with USCG and safety regulations
- Maintain calm, authoritative command during emergencies or unexpected conditions
- Minimum 25‑Ton Master License - Near Coastal (preferred)
- Proven experience operating inspected passenger vessels
- Basic mechanical knowledge
- Confident leadership and crew‑management skills
- Excellent communication and situational awareness
- Part‑time/Full-time, May–October 2026
- 25–40 hours per week
- Includes evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Participation in random drug testing required
