The Cape May County Herald, a legacy weekly publication with a fast-growing digital presence, is looking for a full-time multimedia writer who can tell compelling stories across platforms. If you’re endlessly curious, energized by coastal life on the Jersey Shore, and eager to experiment with new formats, this is the newsroom for you.
We want someone who sees stories everywhere—at town hall, on the boardwalk, in local businesses, and in the everyday lives of Cape May County residents. You’ll produce journalism that engages readers in print, online, in newsletters, and across social media.
What You’ll Do
- Write 5–10 stories per week (typically 500–1500 words) for both print and digital audiences
- Capture strong photos to accompany your reporting (photography experience a big plus)
- Shoot short vertical video for social platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook Reels)
- Cover municipal meetings, events, and breaking news with accuracy and clarity
- Pitch original story ideas—and run with them
- Take assignments from the editor and meet regular deadlines
- Work collaboratively and be open to feedback (journalism is a team sport!)
- Embrace a wide range of topics—from civic issues to human interest to community events
