What are the responsibilities and job description for the AEL Instructor position at Cape Girardeau Career and Technology Center?
The Cape Girardeau Adult Education Center is seeking a dedicated part-time AEL Instructor for the 2025-26 academic year. Hours: Position is for 7-14 hours per week, 10 months per year (either day or evening classes). Location: Sikeston, MO
The Adult Education & Literacy Instructor facilitates meaningful learning of the course competencies in the curriculum and proactively supports all facets of the learning environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- AEL certification or ability to complete certification within three (3) months of hire
- Experience working with diverse population with varying beliefs
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to manage a multi-level adult classroom
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office or Google Drive.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Adult education or secondary education teaching experience with at risk students
- Willingness to interact with the community at large in promoting program
