Director of Strategic Operations (Construction)

Cape Fox subsidiary Mountain Point is seeking a highly qualified Director of Strategic Operations (Construction). The primary focus of this position is to Launch and scale new business lines while enabling the President to drive growth strategy. This role is designed to protect the focus of the existing Directors on backlog execution while giving the President a dedicated senior leader to drive the next phase of company growth.

Role Overview

The Director of Strategic Operations will serve as the President’s primary partner in standing up and accelerating new business lines:

• Expeditionary / Temporary Facilities (SPRUNG, Dogwood, MMG and similar rapid-deploy systems)
• Energy
• Medical

This role is deliberately separated from day-to-day execution of existing business lines. While the Directors of Construction Operations and Environmental Operations concentrate on delivering the existing backlog and traditional operations, the Director of Strategic Operations owns the end-to-end launch of the new verticals—from market entry strategy through initial operational readiness and early revenue generation.

Core Responsibilities

1. New Business Line Launch & Scaling

• Lead the full stand-up of Expeditionary, Energy, and Medical business lines.
• Develop and execute go-to-market plans, including capability definition, pricing models, team structure, partner ecosystems, and initial pipeline targets.
• Build the operational frameworks, processes, and playbooks required for these new lines to transition smoothly into steady-state execution.
• Identify, evaluate, and negotiate strategic partnerships, vendor relationships, and technology/platform solutions specific to temporary facilities, energy, and medical operations.

2. Strategic Support to the President

• Act as the President’s primary strategic operator for growth initiatives outside the core Construction and Environmental portfolios.
• Translate high-level vision into actionable roadmaps, resource plans, and milestone tracking.
• Provide clear, data-driven recommendations on prioritization, investment, and risk for the new verticals.
• Serve as the internal champion and external face for the new business lines until they reach operational maturity.

3. Cross-Functional Coordination

• Partner closely with:
  • Director of Pre-Con (Estimating & Bids) to develop pursuit strategies and win plans for new-line opportunities.
  • Director of Project Controls to establish cost structures, ECACs, and financial tracking unique to the new verticals.
  • Chief of Staff to ensure quality, safety, and proposal standards are adapted for Expeditionary, Energy, and Medical work.
  • Directors of Construction and Environmental Operations to plan eventual hand-off of mature work into the traditional operations organization.
• Ensure new-line pursuits and early projects do not disrupt existing backlog delivery.

4. Organizational Build-Out

• Define the initial organizational structure, key hires, and capability gaps for each new business line.
• Recruit or second talent as needed to support launch activities.
• Establish performance metrics and reporting cadence for the new verticals that feed into executive-level dashboards.

5. Market Intelligence & Opportunity Development

• Continuously scan the market for Expeditionary, Energy, and Medical opportunities aligned with company strengths.
• Shape capture strategies and support early client engagement in coordination with Pre-Con and Business Development resources.

Success Metrics (First 6 Months)

• Successful operational launch of Expeditionary business line.
  • Secure a business line anchor project to build initial expeditionary team around
• Achievement of defined early-revenue and pipeline targets for each vertical.
• Develop new business line business plans with President for Energy and Medical
• Clean hand-off of mature processes and projects into the existing operations structure where appropriate.
• Clear, documented playbooks and organizational models that allow the new lines to scale without continuous heavy involvement from the President.

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at: $170,000.00 - $180,000.00

The above salary range represents the company’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor of Science Degree preferred
• 10 years experience proven cross functional leadership and cross industry business development experience.
• Proven track record launching or scaling new service lines, product offerings, or business units in construction, infrastructure, energy, temporary facilities, or related fields.
• Strong strategic and operational hybrid skill set—comfortable moving between high-level market strategy and detailed operational stand-up.
• Experience with rapid-deploy / expeditionary systems, energy projects, and medical facilities is highly desirable.
• Ability to operate with high autonomy while maintaining tight alignment with the President and peer Directors.
• Excellent cross-functional leadership and influence skills in a matrixed environment.

Salary : $170,000 - $180,000
