Summary
Responsible for demonstrating clinical and operational knowledge and expertise as it relates to assessment, treatment, and care of patients. This knowledge and expertise covers the ages of patients (references Erickson's Model) that the pharmacist may serve and requires the pharmacist to produce results through clinical interventions. Reviews physician medication orders, checking for problems associated with dosages, interactions and incompatibilities; enters orders into computer and dispenses medications in accordance with the orders; supervises work of technicians and helps to train and orient new employees.Graduated from an accredited school of pharmacy. Good communication skills, both oral and written; interpersonal skills that promote cooperative peer behavior; knowledge of drugs and how they act and interact; knowledge of Pharmacy laws (state and national).Must be able to see and read physician orders, medication labels, etc.: have manual dexterity to use computer and typewriter, compound prescriptions and IV admixtures, ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and patients.
