- Assesses the needs of the patient using evaluation tools and clinical observations
- Develops treatment plans, including goals, and methods to achieve identified goals
- Provides goal directed treatment consistent with current OT practice standards and/or ensures that OTAs deliver goal-directed services appropriately
- Selects and uses learning strategies to share occupational therapy treatment choices and outcomes with patients, family, care team and consumers
- Effectively uses available information sources to report therapy activities and patient performances
- Promotes growth and development while evaluating performance and maintaining standards of assigned individuals
- Authorized to have access to medications within their scope of practice
- Other duties as assigned
The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:
Education And Formal Training
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited academic institution
- Master’s degree preferred
- Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state of North Carolina
- New graduate or experienced clinicians considered
- Professional competency as a general practitioner of OT as defined by certification and licensure
- Ability to select age appropriate functional goals and treatment techniques for pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients
- Interpersonal skills that promote cooperative patient and peer behavior
- Accurate written and verbal English
- Ability to communicate orally, read, write, hear, and visually assess patient status
- Ability to utilize proper body mechanics when examining or delivering care
- Ability to transfer and transport patients of various body weight and composition
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, lift, turn, twist, sit and walk frequently
- Ability to demonstrate proper use of and manipulate equipment
