- Makes rounds throughout shift to assess accommodation of patients and staff response to patient placement issues
- Communicates regularly with Patient Placement, Nursing Units and the Emergency Department to facilitate flow of patients being admitted
- Intercedes in difficult patient/family situations to provide support, public relations and problem resolution
- Takes needed action to facilitate departure of discharged patients
- Assesses staffing levels in consideration of patient acuity and make recommendations regarding interventions as indicated according to divisional staffing policies
- Communicates with Patient Care Manager as indicated during shift and completes reports needed for administration
- Monitors, directs and facilitates hospital operations including customer satisfaction, throughput, patient care processes and hospital functional capacity
- Other duties as assigned
The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:
Education And Formal Training
- Associate’s degree in Nursing required
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
- Current Registered Nurse licensure in North Carolina required
- 2 years’ clinical experience required
- 1 year management/supervisory experience required
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
- Leadership characteristics
- Working knowledge of staffing, admissions and prioritization for patient placement
- Strong interpersonal skills required
- Ability to trouble shoot problem areas and maintain positive attitude
- Long periods of standing, sitting or walking
- Occasional lifting
- Command of the English language
- Visual and auditory acuity
- Must be able to lift 35 pounds
