- Participates in assessment of patient
- Collaborates with departmental and interdisciplinary groups in developing the patient plan of care
- Follows patient’s plan of care while participating in the direct nursing care to assigned patients
- Adjusts care based upon age-specific physiological needs of patients as directed by the Registered Nurse or other authorized person(s)
- Maintains an accurate and relevant record of patient care
- Administers medication as ordered by physician
- Facilitates a safe environment
- Recognizes life-threatening situations and responds appropriately
- Maintains required competencies
- Participates in Performance Improvement activities and monitors the quality of care
- Establishes collaborative interpersonal relationships with other Health System staff
- Supports patients in the practice of their cultural and spiritual beliefs within limits of the medical regimen
- Actively participates in cost containment and completes accurate charging for patient services
- Actively demonstrates responsibility concerning customer satisfaction, patient throughput and hospital functional capacity through compliance with the Hospital Innovation Project (HIP), if applicable
- Other duties as assigned
The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:
Education And Formal Training:
- High school graduate or equivalent required
- Current licensure in North Carolina as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Compact state licensure
- The 2 East unit consists of Med-Surgical Patient population.
- Our patients include both inpatient and outpatient adults and geriatric. (No Pediatrics)
- Our Care team consists of a team that provides safe quality care: Registered Nurses, Certified Nurse Assistants, RN Case Managers, Medical Providers, Nurse Manager, Nurse Educator
- Our PCM and Charge Nurses are available to support our clinical needs with access to education, resources, guidelines, and protocols.
- Our electronic medical record is EPIC
- We operate 12-hour shifts, Monday through Sunday (24/7), including after hour nights, weekend, and holiday staffing. Shift start time are 0638/1838 ad end date of 0715/1915
- Staffing Ratio consists of 5-6 Patient to Nurse
- Scheduling is a Every Other Weekend Requirement with Holiday Group Rotation Annually
- New Grads and Experience Nurses are welcome for application and interview
- Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills
- Verbal and written skills required
- Has knowledge of the age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs of the patients typically served
- Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patient needs
- Visual acuity for observation of patients
- Long periods of standing, walking, bending, and lifting
- May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material
- Must be able to lift 35 pounds
