Summary

Major Job Functions
The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:
- Plans, schedules, and coordinates aquatic services for the HealthPlex
- Completes all scheduling for lifeguards for both the lap pool and the therapy pool
- Assists with the annual budgeting process
- Works closely with the rehabilitation staff, fitness staff, and membership staff to identify programming and scheduling needs for members and to attract membership participation in aquatics programming
- Establishes goals, objectives, and policies and procedures for the pools
- Ensure lifeguards maintain current training and certifications
- Assists with any emergency situation in the pool setting per established policy
- Responsible for all pool facility operations to include (but not limited to) daily chemical checks, back-washing, preventative maintenance, checks and services
- Maintains proper pH and chlorine levels to adhere to Hospital and Health Department Guidelines
- Other duties as assigned
The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:
Education And Formal Training
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science OR Parks and Recreation OR health-related field required
- Red Cross lifeguard certification and water safety instructor certification within 90 days of hire required
- Lifeguard Instructor and Certified Pool Operator certification preferred
- 2 years experience in aquatics operations, to include supervision of aquatics staff required
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills in managing and leading the staff to grow and expand programs appropriately while receiving input from community and clinical staff leaders
- Knowledge of pool mechanics, chemical combinations, and day-to-day pool maintenance
- Knowledgeable of the psychosocial and physiological development and spiritual needs of infants, children, adolescents, and all adult age groups (per Erickson’s Model) to provide appropriate care and intervention, either personally or through staff
- Ability to be flexible with the schedule
- Works mostly inside
- Light cleaning and facility preparation, which will include movement of equipment
- Moderate physical exertion involved
- Travel is sometimes required
- May be subjected to occupational exposure
