DEFINITION:
To provide classroom instruction regarding becoming a building inspector including lecture, demonstration, laboratory exercises, handouts, responding to questions, and testing. Students are experienced in one or more building trades and seek to pass this class to become a certified building inspector through the NC Department of Insurance (NCDOI)
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
- Receives supervision from EWD Senior Director and/or Workforce Training Coordinator
- Exercises no supervision
ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTION STATEMENT:
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide classroom and laboratory instruction
- Prepare online/virtual lessons through Canvas
- Prepare lesson plans and schedule classroom activities; develop, and prepare supplemental materials to enhance textbook lessons
- Develop and prepare tests to evaluate student performance; grade and record individual scores
- Provide classroom demonstrations on various equipment and machinery; develop laboratory assignments to provide hands on experience as appropriate
- Participate in curriculum development, evaluation, and change; attend faculty meetings as required.
- Work the number of hours scheduled by the Workforce Development Department
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, and performance; maintain other records and databases according to program needs or accreditation requirements.
- Stay abreast of new developments, and changes in various academic fields; participate in staff development programs, workshops, seminars, and other continuing education programs as appropriate
- Oversee the implementation of policies and procedures related to required teaching area
- As needed, attend trade association meetings and interact with employers.
Other Important Functions:
- Assess the relevancy and impact of various lessons; revise and improve lesson format; evaluate
- Select various text books to be used for future classes
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned

- Candidates are required to submit OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS for all degrees obtained prior to their first day of work or hire date. If highest level of education is High School diploma or equivalent, proof of completion is required.
- Candidates who have obtained their education outside of the US and its territories must have their academic degree(s) validated, at their own expense, by an outside credential evaluation service as equivalent to the Baccalaureate or Master's degree conferred by a regionally accredited college or university in the United States.
