Project Scientist, Geologist, Engineer

We are seeking a motivated Project Geologist, Project Scientist, or Project Engineer with a strong background in environmental remediation to join our Technical Services Organization. This mid-career role offers the opportunity to contribute to high-profile projects, develop technical leadership skills, and grow into a Technical Lead role on small to moderately complex assignments. This is a full-time, salary position and must report to the CAPE office in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Responsibilities

• Provide support for project planning, field sampling, quality control oversight, data interpretation, and environmental compliance.
• Develop technical plans and reports including sampling and analysis plans, quality control plans, and completion reports.
• Oversee field activities such as soil and groundwater sampling, excavation, drilling, subcontractor management, and remediation system operation.
• Ensure fieldwork and reporting compliance with project-specific planning documents and federal and state regulations.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to CAPE’s technical quality standards and procedures.
• Collaborate with project and senior management to deliver high-quality results that meet budget, schedule, and client expectations.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, geology, or related science discipline required. Master's degree preferred.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years in environmental remediation. Experience working in Hawaii/Tropical Pacific preferred.
• Preferred: Licensed Professional Engineer or Geologist, or able to obtain Professional Registration within six months of hire.
• U.S. citizenship required (due to federal contracting requirements).
• Valid U.S. driver’s license with satisfactory record.
• Strong technical writing, analytical, and communication skills.
• Familiarity with federal environmental regulatory programs (CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and industry-standard tools.

Certifications/Training:

• HAZWOPER 40-hour training and annual 8-hour refresher.
• Adult First Aid/CPR/AED.
• U.S. DOT Hazardous Material Training.
• RCRA Hazardous Waste Management Training.
• USACE/NAVFAC Construction Quality Management (CQM) for Contractors.

Work Environment & Travel

• Position required office and field work.
• Position requires up to 50% travel annually for project support.
• Field conditions may involve exposure to varying weather, hazardous materials, and physical demands.
