Food Service Worker

Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age;
- Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Effective organizational and problem solving skills
- Ability to count and make change
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift 50 pounds up to waist level
- Ability to maintain composure and perform responsibilities under pressure
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others in the course of work
- Ability to maintain confidentiality about students in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and district guidelines
- Ability to read and understand written directions and/or recipes
- Ability to measure, perform basic math, and use a calculator
- Must be able to use a computer with basic proficiency
Certifications
- Maine State Criminal History Record Check;
- Serve-Safe (or equivalent) food safety certification;
- Prepares food in accordance with district procedures. Weighs, measures, and portions ingredients according to recipes and/or other instructions provided.
- Serves students and staff in a professional manner. Service may include locations outside of the cafeteria as directed by the Food Service Director and/or building principal.
- Participates in maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen and dining area in accordance with state and local regulations and district procedures. This includes all areas of operation including garbage and recycling areas.
- Performs all duties related to preparation and service of meals, snacks, and special events.
- Processes payments using a computer, processes checks and cash for meal and a-la-cart payments and account pre-payments.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Food Service Director, the Superintendent, and/or the Director of Curriculum/Assistant Superintendent.
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- School Year Only
- Travel between district buildings may be required.
Reports To: Food Service Director
Terms of Employment: As determined annually by the District.
Evaluation: This process will occur once at the end of the probationary period, thereafter annually, by the Food Service Director.
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
