The Cape Cod Art Center is a non-profit membership group that serves its members and community with a variety of fine art programs and events since its inception in 1948. Our mission is to promote the creation and appreciation of visual art by providing a supportive environment for education and exhibitions.

We are especially interested in onboarding individuals who have strong business acumen and legal expertise is highly valued.

Commitment
- Three-year term (up to three consecutive terms)
- Active participation in meetings and committees (~8 hours/month)
Core Responsibilities
- Duty of Care: Stay informed, ask questions, and make thoughtful decisions
- Duty of Loyalty: Act in the organization’s best interest; avoid conflicts
- Duty of Obedience: Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and bylaws
Strategic & Operational Oversight
- Support and uphold mission, vision, and long-term goals
- Provide financial oversight (budgets, performance, controls)
- Support and evaluate leadership
- Contribute to policy development and review
Governance & Collaboration
Additional board positions include: Membership, Gallery, Events, Human Resources, Information Technology, Fundraising, Gift Shop Operations, and Members at Large.
- Attend and actively participate in meetings (~70% attendance)
- Serve on committees such as: Exhibitions, Gift Shop, Fundraising, Capital Planning, Board Development
- Participate in board development; recruit and onboard new board members
