What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. Database Administrator position at Capax Recruitment?
The Data Platform team at Saxo Bank is responsible for operating and continuously developing the database platforms that support Saxo Bank’s global trading infrastructure. The team works across a complex and highly business-critical environment, where performance, stability and availability are essential to supporting customers and financial markets around the clock.
The team currently consists of six experienced database specialists located across Copenhagen, Amsterdam and India. Everyone in the team is highly hands-on and contributes to both operational tasks and strategic initiatives. There is a strong culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing and mutual support, where team members take ownership of both routine operations and complex technical challenges.
The majority of the team’s critical workloads run on Microsoft SQL Server, which remains the core technology area. In addition, the team also works with PostgreSQL, Azure SQL Managed Instances and Cosmos DB. While these technologies are part of the environment, the team's primary expertise and focus remain within SQL Server administration and operations.
The team works closely with development teams, infrastructure specialists, DevOps engineers and Microsoft, and plays a central role in ensuring that Saxo Bank’s database platforms continue to support the company’s ambitious growth and operational requirements.
Requirements
Solid experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator within complex production environments.
Strong experience with SQL Server administration, troubleshooting and performance tuning.
Experience supporting business-critical databases with high availability and uptime requirements.
Experience with backup, recovery, disaster recovery and database migrations.
Experience working in operational environments where stability, performance and ownership are key.
Experience with Azure SQL Managed Instance, PostgreSQL or Cosmos DB is considered an advantage.
Relevant Microsoft certifications are a plus.
