Upfitter Technician Job Description
As a successful candidate for Cap Fleet in Belton, you will have a background and experience in vehicle parts, systems, technology, and equipment, and understand specialized configurations. This position will require sharp attention to detail with the ability to read and follow directions in a timely manner. The right candidate will be responsible for installing toolboxes, bed inserts, brush guards, lights, electronic equipment, and/or other vehicle parts. Tasks include the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, custom bed inserts, toolboxes, and brush guards, as well as two-way mobile radios, antennas, computers/tablets, wireless modems, radars, and cameras, on fleet trucks and canine vehicles. This position will report directly to the shop supervisor. We are looking for someone who shows up on time every day ready to work and can manage their time efficiently. We are on a tight schedule at times and need someone who can excel under pressure. Experience preferred. Pay scale based on experience.
Responsibilities
- Install aftermarket equipment including electronics, lights, sirens, switches, accessory equipment, radios, computers, scene lighting, tool mounting, in-car cameras, and other customer-specified equipment.
- Install, repair, and troubleshoot 12-volt electrical systems.
- Use hand tools to complete equipment installation.
- Install equipment according to work order and drawings.
- Assist with maintaining all shop equipment.
- Complete work orders and timecards in a timely fashion.
- Work collaboratively within the company to advance values of teamwork, innovation, customer service, professional development, and meeting challenges. • Develop respectful and cooperative relationships with co-workers, including a willingness to assist where needed.
- Perform other job-related duties within the scope of this job classification as assigned.
Qualifications
- Vehicle Upfitting: 3 years (Preferred)
•Mechanical knowledge: 3 years (Preferred)
- Have a valid driver’s license
- Be a constructive team player and possess and exhibit a positive attitude
- Must maintain 100% of all factory-required training, including being 100% compliant within the first 30 days (about 4 and a half weeks) of hire Skill Sets
- Can lift to 50 pounds
- Be detail-oriented and focused on quality workmanship
- Be comfortable in an exciting fast-paced environment.
