Job Description:
The Head Girls' Lacrosse Coach is responsible for providing leadership, organization, and direction for the school's girls' lacrosse program. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to developing student-athletes through skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership, and academic success while fostering a positive, safe, and competitive team culture.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience playing lacrosse.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience coaching a high school-aged lacrosse team.
Strong knowledge of lacrosse rules, strategies, and current best practices for building and sustaining a competitive high school lacrosse program.
Ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes, parents, school staff, and the community.
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide leadership and oversight for all aspects of the girls' lacrosse program.
Plan, organize, and conduct practices that develop individual and team skills while preparing athletes for competition.
Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, respect, character, and academic achievement.
Serve as a positive role model and mentor for student-athletes by demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.
Conduct team tryouts and make fair and objective selections based on established criteria.
Teach proper lacrosse fundamentals, conditioning, safety practices, and injury prevention techniques.
Ensure appropriate supervision of student-athletes during practices, competitions, locker rooms, travel, and all team-related activities.
Foster a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment that supports the physical and emotional well-being of all participants.
Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, administrators, and coaching staff regarding program expectations, schedules, and team policies.
Maintain and oversee the care, inventory, and appropriate use of equipment, uniforms, and athletic facilities.
Manage the program budget and financial responsibilities in accordance with district and school procedures.
Complete all required reports, certifications, and documentation in a timely manner.
Ensure that all assistant coaches complete required district and school critical policies training prior to and during their involvement with the program.
Comply with all school, district, and Utah High School Activities Association rules, regulations, and policies.
Perform other duties as assigned by the school administration.
The Head Girls' Lacrosse Coach is expected to build a program that reflects the values of Canyons School District by developing student-athletes who compete with integrity, demonstrate respect for others, pursue excellence both academically and athletically, and represent their school with pride.
