What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrician position at Canyons School District?
Under the supervision of the Maintenance Coordinator and Shop Team Lead, the electrician performs trade specific electrical tasks including the maintenance and repair of fire, security, camera systems, card access, and all other district alarm systems. This includes all fabrication, remodeling, and the maintenance and repair of items or areas in and around District facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs daily work assignments. Work assignments include any/all aspects of new installation, building and equipment repair and remodeling. (e.g. high and low voltage, electrical, data, cabling, security, and communication systems.
- Other work assignments include the maintenance and repair of fire, security, security camera systems, card access, and all other district alarm systems.
- Provide support service to other maintenance areas, as needed.
- May train and direct other maintenance employees, laborers and apprentices as assigned.
- Drives and operates various maintenance vehicles and equipment.
- Will be called to respond to routine and emergency duties as required.
- On call duties as assigned.
- Shift work may be required.
- Required to attend all scheduled training and departmental meetings.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Incumbent must be fingerprinted and clear a criminal background check.
- Requires high school diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Completion of a formal trade-specific apprenticeship is required.
- Must have one of the following for higher salary placement:
- A Utah State Building Contractors License (B-100)
- Utah State/Master license in a specific trade
- ICC Four-way certification
- Associates Degree in related field
- Must be willing to obtain and maintain necessary certifications.
- Requires four years of experience with demonstrated competence in all phases of the trade. Formal apprenticeship or trade-specific educational experience may be included.
- Requires knowledge of codes.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of S.D.S. safety procedures.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work requires physical exertion (e.g. lifting and moving equipment and materials up to 50 pounds, climbing, working in high and/or awkward positions.)
- Work will involve some hazard in the possible exposure to electrical shock.
- May use chemical that are potentially hazardous.
- Activities may involve outdoor work in all weather conditions.
Pay: $27.63 - $35.45 per hour
