Position Title: Microbiology Technician
Location: Onsite at Canyon Labs in West Henrietta, New York
Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00AM – 5:00PM
Overtime: Occasionally Required
Hourly Pay Range: $22.00 - $25.00
Microbiology Technician Overview:
In this position, you will be responsible for executing routine testing and supporting complex studies, performing equipment qualifications, and re-qualifications and supporting associated activities. You will be expected to maintain training records, perform advanced laboratory techniques, and ensure all work is compliant with relevant regulatory requirements.
Microbiology Technician Job Responsibilities:
Test Planning and Evaluation
- Schedule and coordinate laboratory testing activities.
- Prepare GMP and GLP-compliant protocols and reports, ensuring adherence to Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Identify and troubleshoot issues related to routine testing, tools, and instruments.
- Complete laboratory investigations, deviations, and CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) reports.
- Develop and maintain data collection and analysis tools, including ELN forms, spreadsheets, and statistical models.
Reporting and Interpretation
- Review data from standard test methods for accuracy and compliance.
- Conduct thorough reviews of laboratory documentation.
- Perform data trending and analysis for standard testing procedures.
- Interpret results from standard tests and communicate findings.
- Notify department leadership of any potential out-of-specification results or deviations.
- Approve and release non-complex test reports.
Method Development and Validation
- Conduct method development and validation activities.
- Participate in proficiency testing for standard methods to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Additional Duties
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by management.
Microbiology Technician Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and programs specific to the lab tools and instrumentation.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to employees of the organization.

Microbiology Technician Job Requirements:
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree, or an associate degree from a two-year college or technical school, combined with at least two years of relevant experience.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit and walk, use hands to manipulate objects or controls, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and\or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, color, and peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.
