Duties
- Thoroughly clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical devices using approved sterilization techniques.
- Inspect instruments for damage or defects, ensuring all equipment meets safety and quality standards before use.
- Manage inventory by tracking supplies, ordering replacements, and maintaining accurate records to ensure availability of necessary tools.
- Prepare sterilized instruments for surgical procedures by organizing and packaging them according to strict aseptic techniques.
- Follow detailed protocols for decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and storage processes to ensure compliance with health regulations.
- Maintain detailed documentation of sterilization cycles, equipment maintenance, and inventory logs for accountability and quality assurance.
- Collaborate with surgical teams to understand instrument needs and ensure timely availability of sterile supplies.
Requirements
- Proven experience in sterile processing or a related healthcare setting with knowledge of sterilization procedures.
- Strong understanding of anatomy and physiology to correctly handle specialized surgical instruments.
- Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to surgical environments.
- Expertise in inventory management to efficiently track supplies and prevent shortages.
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques to prevent contamination during processing and handling of sterile items.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions precisely while maintaining high attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational skills with the capacity to maintain accurate records and documentation.
