What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fabric Welding Technician position at CANVASWORKS, INC?
The Fabric Welding Technician role requires strong attention to detail and readiness to learn efficient operation of the fabric welding machines. This position offers hands-on training and an introduction to fabric welding techniques.
You will work with three fabric welders and related equipment to cut and weld fabric blanks from various materials, aiming for precision and on-time completion.
While you will primarily work in the shop, you may occasionally be required to travel for on-site installations if additional support is needed. You will also train new employees and cross-train current team members as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Weld fabric blanks using correct settings and operate welding tools for precise, on-time completion.
- Operate basic hand, power, and fabric welding-specific tools.
- Operate tools specific to fabric welding positions, such as fabric slicers and grommet machines.
- Measure, cut, and prepare materials carefully for fabrication.
- Learn and follow safety procedures for fabric welding and material handling.
- Handle products through fabrication, quality inspection, labeling, packaging, and organization.
- Inspect finished products for quality, consistency, and adherence to specifications.
- Assist with labeling, packaging, and organizing completed items.
- Transport materials and tools as needed in the shop or on site.
- Perform general labor and cleaning as needed for projects or shop maintenance.
- Help maintain cleanliness, organization, and equipment condition in the shop.
- Complete general light cleaning tasks where necessary.
- Support coworkers and assist with cross-training as needed.
- Other duties throughout the shop as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn new skills.
- Effective communication skills are particularly important for discussing questions or concerns regarding assigned jobs.
- Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Proficient in using a tape measure and other measurement tools safely and effectively.
- Capability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- A desire to create exceptional products.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Reliability and punctuality, with a strong work ethic.
- [Preferred but not required] Experience operating a forklift.
**Physical Qualifications:**
- Ability to lift 50 lbs to handle heavy materials and equipment.
- Capacity to stand, bend, and engage in hands-on tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to climb ladders, sewing tables, boats, etc.
- The capability to kneel for long periods.
- Willingness to work in environments with heat, noise, dust, and welding fumes (personal protective equipment provided).
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
