Canvas is seeking a qualified individual to support the Air Force at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) at Arnold AFB, TN. The candidate will execute a wide range of technical tasks including development and use of data collection and analysis tools, as well as execution of data collection, analysis, and reporting.

- Performing engineering analysis and modeling functions in a variety of technical areas including:
- Electro-optic/infrared (EO/IR) signature measurement data collection
- Measured EO/IR missile plume and hardbody signature data and models
- Missile propulsion, trajectory, and attitude data and models
- Missile nozzle and plume flowfield models
- Reentry wake flowfield and signature models
- Deploy as part of small team to areas outside AEDC for periods typically from 1 to 2 weeks with responsibility for application of one or more instruments to collect signature data on target(s) of interest.
- Perform data extraction, metadata consolidation, and data processing/analysis tasks as assigned to support customer and user deliverables and requests.
- Use and support development of government or commercial toolsets and applications to process and analyze data.
- Prepare inputs, based on underlying physics, to model and simulation programs for missiles or other systems, and exercise the models to predict signatures.
- Perform comparative analyses of simulation results.
- Prepare documentation as appropriate to record data processing, analysis, and software usage and/or adaptation.
- Work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing work to balance multiple projects and deadlines.
- Collaborate effectively with senior staff and peers, communicating clearly and concisely in both oral and written formats.

- Bachelor’s degree in physics or engineering from an accredited school and up to 3 years of experience.
- Proficiency with Python and MATLAB.
- Advanced degree or additional graduate-level coursework in physics or engineering is a plus.
- Chemistry, fluid dynamics, atmospheric physics background or coursework is a plus.
- Coursework in Computer Vision and experience with OpenCV is highly desired.
- Must be able to learn and effectively use a variety of government and in-house simulation codes and analysis tools.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience fostering cooperation and teamwork with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Engineering intern experience and/or experience in test or aerospace/industrial setting is desired.
- Applicant must be willing and able to work extended hours and shift work while supporting test execution, as test schedules dictate.
- Strong adherence to safety and security protocols in a test environment.
