Lawn Care Technician

Canvas Lawn Care, LLC
Knoxville, TN Full Time
POSTED ON 7/18/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 11/15/2026

Canvas Lawn Care is a locally rooted lawn and shrub care company with years of experience serving our community. We provide professional fertilization, weed control, insect and disease management to residential and commercial clients. We are looking for a reliable, self-motivated technician to join our small, tight-knit team and deliver top-quality service on an established route.

What You’ll Do

  • Service & Application

Provide outstanding service to an assigned route by applying fertilizers, herbicides, and other pesticides to lawns and shrubs. Duties include mixing chemicals, pulling and managing up to 400 ft. of spray hose, safe and efficient operation of ride-on equipment, lifting up to 50 lbs., and washing and maintaining equipment. Accurate recordkeeping is required. Technicians are expected to maintain consistent productivity and meet or exceed route quotas — our small team depends on every member pulling their weight.

  • Lawn Assessment & Expertise

Go beyond application — continuously evaluate the condition, health, appearance, and needs of every lawn you service. Our customers view their Canvas technician as their trusted lawn care expert. You are expected to carry that attitude on every visit, treat every lawn as if it were your own, and proactively identify and communicate issues or opportunities to the customer.

  • Sales

Follow up on company-provided leads and identify new prospects while on route. Sales may be conducted through on-site lawn evaluations, giving potential customers an honest assessment of what our services can and cannot deliver. Meet or exceed service and sales quotas.

  • Customer Relations

Always represent Canvas professionally — whether on your own route or covering for a teammate. Maintain a neat uniform appearance, call customers the day before scheduled visits when requested, and return all customer calls the same day. Handle questions and concerns with courtesy, honesty, and product knowledge. The standard of professionalism does not change based on whose route you are running.

  • Teamwork & Reliability

This is a small team where every person matters. Technicians take pride in their work and in supporting one another — that may include covering a colleague’s route when needed. Reliability is non-negotiable. When someone doesn’t show up or falls behind, it affects the entire team and our customers. We succeed together.

Qualifications

Required

  • Genuine desire to work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions — heat, cold, rain, and everything in between
  • Valid Tennessee driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • High school diploma or equivalent (some college preferred, not required)
  • Ability and willingness to study for and obtain a Tennessee Commercial Pesticide Applicator Certification
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-service mindset
  • Exceptional attention to detail — precise chemical mixing and application is critical to both lawn health and overall safety
  • Strong sense of personal accountability — reliable, consistent, and proud of the quality of your work
  • Commitment to safe vehicle operation and safe practices on customer premises at all times
  • Ability to follow directions, complete assignments accurately and on time, and work both independently and as part of a team
  • Able to perform physical work outdoors, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting ability
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check; subject to random screening (safety-sensitive position)
