Primary Purpose:
The Special Education Program Facilitator supports the Director of Special Education in ensuring the consistent, compliant, and effective delivery of special education services across the district. This position provides direct support to teachers, case managers, and campus staff in navigating individualized education program requirements, service implementation, documentation practices, and procedural timelines. The facilitator works collaboratively with school teams to address concerns, promote clarity, and uphold state and federal special education regulations, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the Texas Education Code. Qualifications:
Education and Certification:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university (required)
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate with Special Education endorsement for all levels (required)
- English as a Second Language certification (preferred)
Special Knowledge and Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of special education compliance, individualized education program development, and state documentation requirements
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to support and guide staff
- Familiarity with the Admission, Review, and Dismissal committee process and individualized education program implementation
- Ability to assist teachers and staff with scheduling, service tracking, and accommodations documentation
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in compliance and reporting
- Commitment to collaborative problem-solving and customer-focused service
Responsibilities:
Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience in special education
- Experience supporting or consulting with other educators preferred
