What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Teacher - Middle/High School position at Canute Public Schools?
Canute Public School is seeking a dedicated Certified Teacher to join our middle and high school team for a treatment facility in Mustang, OK. This is a 240 day contract starting July 1, 2026. Qualified candidate will inspire students to achieve their academic potential while fostering a positive and engaging learning environment. Your expertise will support student growth across various subjects, including math, language arts, science, social studies, and electives for out of home placed students. Candidate will work directly with residential staff.
Edmentum (a computer based curriculum) is used to provide subject material for the students. Please call or text with questions and/or to visit with teachers who are in our facilities.
Responsibilities
- Deliver lessons with the Edmentum curriculum across multiple subjects such as Math (including Algebra, Geometry, Consumer Math), English, Sciences, Social Studies, along with some electives.
- Assess student progress through the Edmentum computer based curriculum, and provide timely feedback to support growth.
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to teaching methods, special education needs.
- Communicate regularly with staff and facility director regarding student progress and behavioral concerns through conferences or written reports.
- Administer Placement testing.
Qualifications
- Valid teaching certification for middle or high school education in relevant subject area.
- Must pass a background check.
- Proven classroom experience working with children and adolescents in diverse educational settings.
- Strong knowledge of core subjects including Math (Algebra, Geometry, Consumer Math), Literacy Education, Social Studies, and Sciences.
- Experience with learning technology tools and digital resources for interactive instruction.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Must be able to work with troubled youth.
- Ability to manage classroom boundaries effectively while fostering a positive learning environment.
- Knowledge of special education practices is preferred.
