Position Overview
The Prime Services Margin Associate will report to the Head of Asset Services and support operations across multiple domestic legal entities affiliated with Cantor Fitzgerald. This role is responsible for providing operational support to Prime Services clients across both Equity and Fixed Income products, while ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory and internal margin requirements.
The ideal candidate will play a key role in daily margin operations, client servicing, risk monitoring, and process improvement initiatives within a dynamic prime brokerage environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary point of contact for client and administrator operational inquiries related to Prime Services accounts
- Issue and monitor margin calls to ensure client accounts maintain required equity levels
- Review daily cash and margin account activity to ensure compliance with Regulation T, FINRA, and internal risk policies
- Support portfolio margin account maintenance and amendments
- Process and reconcile daily operational workflows, controls, and exception management
- Coordinate with internal teams including Operations, Risk, Finance, and Front Office personnel to resolve client issues and operational breaks
- Monitor account activity, settlement issues, fails, and cash movements across Prime Brokerage accounts
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and reduce manual processes through automation and operational enhancements
- Escalate operational risks, control issues, and exceptions in a timely and effective manner
- Participate in project work, testing initiatives, and ad hoc operational requests as needed
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- 3 years of experience within Prime Brokerage, Margin, and Operations,
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, client-focused environment
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Team-oriented mindset with a proactive and collaborative approach
- Understanding of basic accounting and financial market concepts preferred
Preferred Experience & Knowledge
- Interest in or exposure to Prime Brokerage, Margin Operations, or Brokerage Operations
- Knowledge of Regulation T, FINRA margin rules, and portfolio margin concepts
- Familiarity with equities, fixed income products, and securities financing operations
- Experience with dividends, corporate actions, or asset servicing functions is a plus
- Demonstrated interest in financial markets and operational risk management
- Desire to continuously learn and develop within financial services operations
The actual base salary will be determined on an individualized basis considering a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, education, and, where applicable, licenses or certifications held. In addition to base salary and a competitive benefits package (including health, vision, and dental insurance, paid time off and a 401(k) retirement), this position may be eligible for additional types of compensation including discretionary bonuses and other short- and long-term incentives (e.g., deferred cash, equity, etc.).
