Canton High School Wellness Department is seeking an exceptional and dynamic candidate to serve as the .6 High School Wellness Educator for the 2026-2027 school year and beyond beginning on August 26, 2026. Our Wellness Department strives to maintain an inclusive community for all students and staff and serves over 960 students in grades 9-12. The Wellness Department is elevating the educational experience for our students by cultivating a school culture and climate that promotes academic growth and social-emotional learning for every student, and ensures high-quality teaching and learning through the purposeful design of rigorous and equitable student experiences.

JOB SUMMARY
Canton High School teachers provide a well-organized, academically challenging, culturally and linguistically responsive learning environment in which students can access the curriculum, make progress toward Massachusetts standards, and develop social and emotional skills to participate in society, while also providing a safe, supportive, and welcoming educational environment for all students.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences to meet the needs of all learners
- Develop lesson plans that align with the state standards and district-determined high-quality instructional practices
- Create a culturally and linguistically responsive classroom environment
- Identify, select, and implement differentiated instructional resources and methods to meet students’ varying needs based on relevant data
- Follow and implement individual student safety plans, IEPs, 504s, health care plans, behavior support plans etc.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress, achievement, and attendance
- Manage student behavior in the classroom and school by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures in accordance with the student handbook
- Participate in department and faculty meetings, parent/guardian meetings, and professional development opportunities.
- Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents/guardians regarding student progress and student needs
- Performs other duties specifically articulated within the collective bargaining agreement as assigned by the building principal and/or District administration
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Maintain Valid Massachusetts DESE teacher certification in Physical Education (5-12) and/or Health and Family/Consumer Sciences (all levels)
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
- Highly Qualified per Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE)
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the school department may find appropriate and acceptable

WORK YEAR: 183 days
COMPENSATION: Per the Unit A Collective Bargaining Agreement here.
