We are Canteen. Job Summary The Fleet Manager is responsible for the strategic oversight, operational management, and optimization of the company’s vehicle fleet. This role ensures fleet operations are safe, cost‑effective, compliant, and aligned with business objectives while supporting drivers, field operations, and leadership. The Fleet Manager is part of the Equipment Maintenance and Repair team and reports to our Director of EMR.  Key Responsibilities Fleet Operations & StrategyManage the full lifecycle of the vehicle fleet, including acquisition, leasing, maintenance, utilization, replacement, and disposalDevelop and execute fleet strategies to optimize cost, safety, uptime, and performanceLead initiatives related to fleet right‑sizing, standardization, and sustainability (EV/hybrid adoption where applicable)Vendor & Asset ManagementManage relationships with vehicle manufacturers, leasing companies, maintenance providers, telematics vendors, and fuel partnersNegotiate contracts, pricing, and service‑level agreementsAnalyze vendor performance and ensure service quality and complianceFinancial & Cost ManagementOwn the fleet budget, forecasting, and cost‑control initiativesMonitor total cost of ownership (TCO), fuel usage, maintenance expenses, and depreciationIdentify and implement cost‑savings opportunitiesCompliance, Safety & RiskEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local transportation regulationsOversee fleet safety programs, driver standards, and accident managementPartner with Risk Management and Legal on claims, insurance, and incident investigationsTelematics & TechnologyLeverage fleet management systems and telematics platforms to track utilization, driver behavior, maintenance, and fuel efficiencyAnalyze data to drive operational improvements and executive reportingSupport integration with systems such as Samsara, UpKeep, CMMS, or fuel card platforms (as applicable)Stakeholder & Driver SupportServe as the primary point of contact for fleet‑related needs across departmentsSupport drivers with vehicle assignments, training, policies, and issue resolutionPartner with Operations, HR, Procurement, and Finance teamsReporting & Continuous ImprovementProduce regular fleet performance reports for leadershipTrack KPIs such as vehicle utilization, downtime, accident rates, and cost per mileDrive continuous improvement and best‑practice adoption across the fleet Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Transportation, preferred not required5 years of experience in fleet management, transportation, or asset managementStrong knowledge of fleet operations, maintenance programs, and regulatory complianceExperience managing vendor relationships and budgetsProficiency with fleet management systems and telematics toolsStrong analytical, organizational, and communication skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience managing medium to large corporate fleets (100 vehicles)Familiarity with EV/hybrid fleet strategies and sustainability initiativesExperience with telematics platforms (e.g., Samsara, Geotab) and maintenance systems (e.g., UpKeep)Professional certifications such as CAFMs, NAFA, or equivalent preferred Key CompetenciesStrategic thinking and operational executionData‑driven decision‑makingVendor negotiation and contract managementCross‑functional collaborationSafety leadership and risk mitigation Work EnvironmentCorporate office‑based with periodic travel to fleet locationsCollaboration with field operations, distribution sites, and vendors Associates at Canteen are offered many fantastic benefits.Full-time and part-time positions offer the following benefits to associates: Retirement Plan, Associate Shopping Program, Health and Wellness Programs, Discount Marketplace, Identity Theft Protection, Pet Insurance, Voluntary Benefits, including Critical Illness Insurance, Accident Insurance, Hospital Indemnity Insurance, Legal Services, and Choice Auto and Home ProgramFull-time positions also offer the following benefits to associates: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance/AD, Disability Insurance, Commuter Benefits, Employee Assistance Program, Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs). Associates may also be eligible for paid and/or unpaid time off benefits in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
