Canon Theatre is seeking a dynamic, visionary managing director with an entrepreneurial mindset to establish and lead administrative, financial, operational, and community-facing functions for a new regional performing arts venue. The purpose of the role is to build organizational infrastructure, manage programming, strengthen partnerships, and ensure outstanding audience and artist experiences.
About Canon Theatre
Canon Theatre is a new performing arts venue launching with exceptional momentum through the efforts of the Canonsburg Educational and Cultural Institute (CECI). Under the guidance of an engaged Board of Directors and supported by significant financial resources and an enthusiastic community, the completely renovated theatre is slated to open this fall. The new venue will feature 580-plus seats for guests, a state-of-the-art sound and production system, a bar and concession area for enhanced guest experience, and updated backstage and dressing room facilities for performers. Located in a growing and economically vibrant area, the Canon Theatre is positioned for long-term success, community growth, and cultural engagement.
Responsibilities
- Build and manage operations, finance, marketing, and administrative functions
- Establish strong working relationships with production companies, talent management companies, and regional artists and service providers
- Support marketing plans, artistic programming, and strategic planning
- Foster strong donor, community, and business relationships
- Lead staff development, volunteer and audience engagement, and organizational culture
- Ensure smooth facility and front-of-house operations
Qualifications
- Leadership experience in all aspects of theatre, performing arts, or nonprofit management
- Strong financial, communication, logistics and planning skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a new, growing organization
- Passion for the performing arts and community engagement
Pay: $40,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
