About The Role
The successful candidate will work with multi-discipline teams across our multiple offices to deliver creative lighting solutions to clients, participating in the pursuit and project delivery for the full breadth of the firm’s project markets.
Here's What You'll Do
- Independently develop basic to moderately complex construction documents and specifications of lighting and control systems. Work with junior staff to assign tasks on projects.
- Design lighting and control systems for healthcare, education and commercial clients. Analyze lighting and engineering documents and layout systems in regards to components and parts. Research and respond to design issues.
- Participate in value engineering sessions with Architectural/Engineering team.
- Apply knowledge of energy code, electrical and energy codes, as well as IES recommendations, as it applies to lighting and control systems design.
- Independently perform illuminance and lighting power density calculations and complete Comcheck/other record documents such as documentation for rebates/incentives, LEED/WELL certification, and other project-required records.
- Understand integrated design and project deliverables, including deliverables associated with architecture, engineering, and related trades. Coordinate lighting documentation with associated trades.
- Attend project and client meetings to represent the lighting discipline. Identify, elevate, and resolve lighting coordination items.
- Recommend improvements with reference standards and processes to improve quality, coordination, and to streamline production efforts.
- Review and mark up shop drawings and submittals.
- Gather information to respond to RFI’s and review of change orders in the preparation of construction documents.
- Conduct job site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress. Site visits frequently require a physical walk-through of site.
- Have a basic understanding of profitability metrics.
- Participate and attend industry events (manufacturer visits, conferences, webinars, etc)
- Must be willing to perform overtime work and be willing to travel.
- May perform other related tasks as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Lighting Design, Architecture, Interior Design, Architectural Engineering, Electrical Engineering or closely related degree.
- Minimum of 6 years of related experience performing in a lighting design role.
- LC/CLD credential, current registered member of IALD, IESNA or other professional lighting memberships preferred.
- LEED AP, WELL, or other sustainable certification preferred.
- Knowledge of building regulations and codes for healthcare, education, S&T and commercial spaces. Strong knowledge of product design and specifications.
- Must have strong communication, teamwork and collaboration and problem-solving skills as well as an ability to engage effectively with teammates and clients.
- Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, AGI/Elumtools.
- Proficiency in graphic design and image editing software (Adobe Creative Suite).
- Knowledgeable of Sustainable Analysis and Daylighting programs (Lightstanza, Ecotect, Daysim, Comfen, DIVA for Rhino, IES VE.).
- Familiarity with Energy Analysis Software (Comcheck) and code-required documentation (ex: California Title-24 Energy Compliance).
- Proficient in MS Office, Word, Excel, PPT required. Proficiency in Bluebeam, Teams, Trello, Procore Miro preferred.

Salary : $84,800 - $106,000
