Process Engineer - Chemical Manufacturing

Cannon Recruiting is seeking a Process Engineer for an opportunity in chemical manufacturing. In this role, you will provide technical support for plant operations, improve process safety and reliability, and identify opportunities to increase efficiency and reduce costs.

This position combines hands-on troubleshooting, process controls, capital project support, and collaboration with plant operations teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Monitor unit operations, investigate process deviations, and implement technical improvements that support safety, quality, capacity, and reliability.

• Lead Management of Change (MOC) activities, including documentation, process safety reviews, and operator training.

• Participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and complete assigned actions in accordance with applicable engineering standards.

• Identify capital investment needs and support project design, construction, commissioning, and startup.

• Support Distributed Control System (DCS) projects and coordinate with third-party integrators.

• Modify DCS programming, logic, and graphics, and troubleshoot DCS and Safety Instrumented System (SIS) hardware and software.

• Identify and track opportunities to improve yields, reduce waste, and lower energy consumption.

• Maintain process and equipment documentation, including P&IDs, control system documentation, electrical drawings, equipment design information, and asset records.

• Train operations and technical personnel on process and control system changes.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.

• At least 3 years of professional experience.

• Experience with DCS, SIS, or Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems.

• Experience with process data historians.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Effective written, verbal, and presentation skills.

• Experience training salaried and hourly employees.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in a manufacturing environment operating under Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements.

COMPENSATION AND ADDITIONAL DETAILS

• Annual base salary of $100,000–$130,000.

• 7% bonus opportunity.

• Full-time, regular position.

• No travel required.

• Relocation assistance is not available.
