SUPERVISES: Student(s)
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Required to work under the direct guidance of the classroom teacher unless otherwise assigned
to another supervisor
• In settings involving students with disabilities, assistants shall assist students with toileting,
catheterization, feeding, and other self-help activities as required
• Assist individual pupils and small groups in developing academic skills
• Perform such clerical duties as preparing instructional materials, making reports, checking
papers, and recording grades (clerical duties are not, however, limited to this list)
• Maintain student records as directed by the classroom teacher
• Administer all diagnostic tools as directed by the teacher
• Assist in preparing the classroom and organizing all instructional materials and equipment
as directed by the teacher
• Monitor the classroom when the teacher must attend required meetings, provide
consultation, etc.
• Attend all in-service and faculty meetings when directed to do so by immediate supervisors
or the Director of Schools
• Must not discuss confidential school business or student records in or out of school or with
peers
• Assist in the supervision of students on bus trips as directed by the building-level
administrator
• Lunchroom, recess/playground, before or after school duty

• May operate a motor vehicle to conduct various work activities
• Successful completion of Criminal Justice fingerprint/background process and drug screen
• Appropriate attendance record
• Dress neatly and appropriately, according to system dress code
• Performs ALL other duties as assigned by the Special Education Teacher, Principal,
Supervisor of Exceptional Learning, and/or Director of Schools.

EVALUATION: Supervisor of Exceptional Learning in conjunction with SPED Teacher
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This job may require lifting or carrying of objects that exceed fifty (50) pounds, with frequent
lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Other physical
demands that may be required are as follows: pushing and/or pulling, stooping and/or kneeling,
reaching and/or handling, talking, hearing, seeing, and climbing.
WORK CONDITIONS: Normal working environment.
