JOB SUMMARY: Girls Basketball Job Description

• Knowledge of the fundamentals, rules, and strategies of basketball.
• Ability to teach age-appropriate basketball skills, including shooting, passing, dribbling, defense, rebounding, spacing, and teamwork.
• Experience coaching, playing, or assisting with basketball at the youth, middle school, high school, or comparable level preferred.
• Strong understanding of middle school student development and the ability to work effectively with young adolescents.
• Ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes, parents, staff, and the community.
• Commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the court, including character, discipline, responsibility, sportsmanship, and academic accountability.
• Ability to create a positive team culture that promotes effort, respect, teamwork, and school pride.
• Strong communication skills with students, parents, school administration, and athletic staff.
• Ability to organize and conduct effective practices that focus on skill development, team concepts, conditioning, and player growth.
• Willingness to follow all school, district, TSSAA, and athletic department rules, policies, and expectations.
• Ability to supervise student-athletes before, during, and after practices, games, travel, and team activities.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe, structured, and respectful environment for all student-athletes.
• Ability to model professionalism, integrity, emotional control, and good sportsmanship at all times.
• Willingness to collaborate with school administration, athletic directors, and other coaches to support the overall athletic program.
• Ability to manage team responsibilities such as equipment, uniforms, schedules, communication, and game-day preparation.
• Must meet all district requirements for coaching, including background checks, required trainings, certifications, and any other employment or volunteer requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS: This position is a basketball coach with no teaching position.
