Permit Coordinator
Cannon Companies is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented professional to join our Outside Plant Engineering team as a Permit Coordinator. In this role, you'll be instrumental in preparing, submitting, and tracking Right-of-Way and utility permits with local jurisdictions. This position offers hands-on coordination with engineering, construction, and permitting authorities to ensure timely project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain working relationships with local and regional permitting departments.
- Review and interpret engineering plans to prepare and submit accurate permit applications.
- Coordinate with engineering and construction teams to resolve permitting issues.
- Monitor permit progress and communicate status updates internally and externally.
- Ensure permits are submitted, tracked, and retrieved in alignment with project timelines.
- Support various department goals and contribute to company success with minimal supervision.
Required Qualifications
- 2-3 years' experience in Outside Plant (OSP) Engineering or Construction permitting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ability to learn proprietary and cloud-based systems (e.g., Salesforce).
- Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to read and interpret OSP plans and specifications.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
Preferred Knowledge
- Familiarity with Washington State permitting processes.
- Understanding of trenching, boring, aerial work, and ROW applications.
- General knowledge of fiber optic and copper plant construction.
- Experience in telecommunications or utility construction industries.
- Knowledge of permitting regulations, easements, and right-of-way guidelines.
This role is in person at our office located in Milton, WA.
