We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Archivist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and preserving our organization’s historical records and collections.
Key Responsibilities
- Appraise, acquire, and accession archival materials according to established collection policies.
- Arrange, describe, and catalog collections using archival standards and best practices.
- Preserve physical and digital records through proper storage, conservation, and digitization methods.
- Maintain archival databases, inventories, and finding aids.
- Respond to research inquiries and assist users in locating and interpreting archival materials.
- Develop and implement records management and retention procedures.
- Monitor environmental conditions to ensure proper preservation of collections.
- Coordinate digitization projects and manage digital archives.
- Prepare exhibits, presentations, and educational materials highlighting archival collections.
- Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and institutional standards regarding archival materials.
Required Qualifications
- Archival Studies, or a related field.
- Knowledge of archival principles, preservation techniques, and records management practices.
- Experience organizing, cataloging, and managing archival collections.
- Familiarity with archival management software and collection databases.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
- Ability to stay on task and work unsupervised.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital asset management systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Archival Studies, or a related field.
- Professional certification in archives or records management preferred.
- Experience with digitization projects and digital preservation systems.
- Experience working in museums, libraries, government agencies, universities, or historical societies, preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move archival boxes and materials up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to stand, bend, reach, and work in storage environments for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity for handling delicate and historical materials.
Pay: From $25.00 per hour
