This role is ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys helping people, takes pride in a clean and polished store environment, and can build customer trust through great energy, honest recommendations, and strong product knowledge.
We are looking for someone with strong character: reliable, accountable, respectful, trustworthy, and able to work well as part of a team. The ideal candidate is personable, organized, able to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and interested in learning the New York cannabis market—from local microbusiness products to well-known statewide brands.
Responsibilities
Greet every customer with a warm, professional, and energetic attitude.
Deliver excellent customer service and create a welcoming, comfortable shopping experience.
Learn and confidently discuss New York State cannabis products, including flower, pre-rolls, edibles, vapes, concentrates, tinctures, topicals, accessories, local microbusiness brands, and established brands.
Ask thoughtful questions to understand customer preferences, experience level, intended use, and budget.
Make honest, responsible product recommendations based on customer needs.
Build baskets through natural upselling of vape cartridges, batteries, accessories, multipacks, and complementary products.
Educate customers on product formats, potency, terpene profiles, cannabinoids, responsible consumption, and safe-use practices without making medical claims.
Process transactions accurately through the dispensary POS system, verify customer identification, and follow all store policies and New York State compliance requirements.
Keep the sales floor, product displays, work areas, and customer-facing spaces clean, stocked, organized, and visually appealing.
Restock merchandise, rotate products as directed, maintain display standards, and report low inventory or product concerns to management.
Assist with opening and closing responsibilities, cleaning assignments, sanitation, and general daily store upkeep.
Support inventory counts, product receiving, merchandising, and other operational tasks as assigned.
Work collaboratively with management and team members while maintaining a reliable, professional, and positive attitude.
Qualifications
Must be at least 21 years old.
Prior experience in retail, hospitality, sales, customer service, or a licensed cannabis dispensary is preferred.
Strong interest in cannabis, retail sales, and customer education.
Familiarity with New York State cannabis brands, including local microbusinesses and larger licensed brands, is strongly preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A friendly, upbeat, approachable personality with consistent energy.
Sales-minded with the ability to make useful add-on recommendations without being overly pushy.
Highly trustworthy, dependable, punctual, organized, and detail-oriented.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced retail setting and standing for extended periods.
Willing to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and closing shifts as needed.
Able to follow strict compliance, security, cash-handling, and inventory procedures.
