Summary:
The Chemical Plant Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine and preventive maintenance on all equipment and systems within the chemical plant. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of plant machinery and processes. The technician will diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues, adhering to all safety regulations and company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Routine Inspections:
- Conduct regular checks and inspections of machinery and equipment to identify signs of wear, malfunction, or potential issues.
- Preventive Maintenance:
- Perform scheduled maintenance on plant equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
- Inspect, test, and calibrate machinery and equipment.
- Equipment Repair:
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation problems.
- Repair or replace defective parts using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
- Work with external vendors for specialized repairs when necessary.
- Familiarity with batch chemical operations a plus
- Familiarity with all types of mixing equipment a plus.
- Installation:
- Assist with the installation of new equipment and machinery.
- Assisting with or implementing upgrades and modifications to improve equipment performance or efficiency.
- Ensure proper alignment, calibration, and configuration according to manufacturer specifications.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Participate in safety meetings and contribute to a safe working environment.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company policies.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repairs.
- Update equipment logs and maintenance databases.
- Emergency Response:
- Being on-call or available for emergency repairs to address unexpected equipment failures or other urgent issues.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with operations to minimize downtime and improve plant efficiency.
- Provide technical support and training to plant personnel as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or apprenticeship in industrial maintenance or related field preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance within a chemical plant or similar industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)
- Certifications:
- Certification in industrial maintenance, electrical, or instrumentation (preferred).
- Valid driver's license.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Capability to work in various environmental conditions (hot, cold, noisy, etc.).
- Willingness to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $33.00 - $35.00 per hour
