Description

Caniff Electric Supply is a wholesale and industrial electrical distributor with multiple locations that serve Southeast Michigan. Our delivery truck drivers are an integral part of our operation and are dependable and friendly individuals. Drivers require valid driving credentials including a clean driving record, a chauffeur’s license and are able to safely navigate their way around, with familiarity of, Metro Detroit. Individuals must be able to comfortably and skillfully drive the following vehicle types: newer model 16ft. and 26ft. stake trucks (with lift gate) & 26ft. box truck.

Position Details

  • Candidate's experience should include experience driving 16ft and/or 26ft or larger vehicles, material handling experience including the use of hi-lo/forklift, and customer service experience.
  • Hiring is contingent upon an MVR (motor vehicle records) check.
  • Hours: M-F, 6AM-3PM, 10AM-7PM; overtime as needed.
  • Job Type: Full-time, $18.00 to $22.00 per hour starting pay

Responsibilities

  • Checking, loading/unloading and securing product to your delivery vehicle.
  • Compliance with all motor vehicle regulations and traffic laws.
  • Observes safety rules for loading, unloading and transportation of goods, along with all company policies.
  • Performs necessary pre-trip and post-trip inspections and fueling procedures.
  • Complies with delivery instructions; maintains strict adherence to customers' rules at work site.
  • Provides customer service, builds and maintains customer relationships.
  • Follows paperwork procedures and signature verification policies to confirm receipt of goods.

Job Requirements

  • Clean Driving Record.
  • Minimum of 25 years of age.
  • Committed to providing exceptional customer service.
  • Is familiar with Detroit Metro area road systems and knows how to navigate around Detroit.
  • Michigan Chauffeur's License, able to pass a DOT physical and background check.
  • Ability to operate a hilo/forklift.
  • Good basic math skills.
  • Indoor/Outdoor work environment.
  • Physical work including but not limited to being able to repeatedly lift and carry up to 100lbs, bend, kneel, climb ladders and be on feet walking/standing parts of shift.
  • Clear communication skills; speaks fluent English.
  • Highschool diploma, GED or equivalent.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Chauffeurs license required, CDL preferred.
  • Successful completion of a DOT physical.
  • Good, verifiable driving required (driver’s motor vehicle report is run and reviewed by our insurance company biannually).
  • Successful completion of internal driving skills assessment required.
  • Familiarity with local driving area and previous delivery experience preferred.
  • Must conduct self professionally when dealing with customers and staff.
  • Basic PC skills with MS Office Products required. Operate computer terminal and other computer related equipment relevant to job duties.
  • High level of initiative, commitment, and devotion to fulfill company mission statement.
