RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Effectively manages production employees to maximize throughput and control expenses.
- Manages production to achieve optimum recoveries, product forms and quality.
- Ensures all production staff follow food safety, food quality, industrial safety and health, human resources, and environmental compliance policies and regulations.
- Trains employees in all aspects of production. Develops and mentors employees to move into key staff roles.
- Supports employees and staff. Professionally resolves conflict among employees. Keeps the HR Manager and Plant Manager informed of issues.
- Identifies and corrects production inefficiencies.
- Works to continuously improve processes and documentation.
- Maintains a positive outlook and demeanor.
- Develops long-term professional working relationships with employees, fishers, tenders, customers, auditors, visitors, and the local community. Represents the company professionally and appropriately in interactions with others.
- Maintains accurate product and supply inventories.
- Organizes and reports production workflow.
- Ensures the production line has all resources needed to accomplish production goals.
- Ensures all plant operations meet or exceed company and regulatory requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 4 years of experience in the Alaska seafood industry.
- Ability to work with a culturally diverse group of employees.
- Ability to multi-task and effective use of time management.
- Ability to work long hours, seven days a week, during peak seasons.
- Consistent and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to communicate in English, including reading and writing.
- Ability to perform basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, determining percentages).
- Ability to work in and around a seafood processing plant in inclement weather.
